Historical Needlework of Pennsylvania by Margaret B. Schiffer.    

This is a first edition published in 1968 by Bonanza Books, a division of Crown Publishers, Inc.   It is a hardback book of 160 pages with a plastic covered dustcover.   Chapters include: Samplers, Crewel Embroidery, Silk Embroidery, Moravian Needlework, Florentine Embroidery, Canvas Work, Berlin Work, Pennsylvania German Needlework and Stumpwork.  There are 5 color and 97 black and white illustrations.    The book is in very good condition with minor wear to the dustcover.   US shipping - $5.50.                                                                                                                                                               $32.00

Linen Embroideries by Etta Campbell.   

This is a first edition published in 1935 by Sir Isaac Pittman & Sons, LTD.  London.   It is a hardback book of 41 pages.  Chapters include:  Materials, Hems, Samplers, Double Running, Geometrical Satin Stitch Borders, Needleweaving, Pattern Darning, Edges, Cords, and Joins.   There are 1 color and 23 black and white illustrations.   The book is showing some noticible wear to the spine but is otherwise in good condition.           US shipping - $3.50.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             $20.00

Samplers And Stitches by Mrs. Archibald Christie.   

This is a third edition published in 1934 by B. T. Batsford Ltd, London  It is a hardback book of 152 pages .   Chapters include:  Introductory, Flat Stitches, Looped Stitches, Chain Stitches, Knotted Stitches, Composite Stitches, Canvas Stitches, Drawn Fabric Stitches, Black Work - Lace Stitch Fillings- Insertion Stitches, Couching and Laid Work, and Applied and Inlaid Work - Quilting.  There are 37 black and white plates and 240 text illustrations (stitch diagrams). 

This is an exceptionally well known very early book on the subject of needlework.  The first edition was published in 1920, and the second edition was published in 1934.   Mrs. Archibald Christie was a very well known and well thought of teacher for the Royal School of Needlework in England and many of her embroideries are on display in the Victoria And Albert Museum in London.   I believe there have been several further editions of this book published. Let's Embroider by Heidi Haupt-Battaglia.   

This is the Revised English Edition published in 1960 by B. T. A Pageant of Pattern For Needlepoint Canvas by Sherlee Lantz.   

This is a second edition published in 1977 by Grosset & Dunlap, Inc., in New Yor City. It is a hardback book of 510 pages with a dustcover.  This wonderful book contains 351 diagrams accompanied by illustrations of worked samples, over 150 photographs of historical sources and worked samples, and 25 full color photographs of in-process and completed pieces of needlework.  These are some of the best diagrams you will see.  They are large and very easy to read.  For anyone who wishes to design needlework, this book is a must have.  It is in excellent condition with  minor wear to the dustcover.    US shipping - $7.50.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     $38.00

Mary Fry's Pulled Thread Workbook by Mary Fry.
